Seismic Tune
In 2011, I installed seismic sensors inside an old abandoned barn near Ruza, in the Moscow region.
The sensors recorded ground vibrations of the kind used in seismic exploration for oil deposits. I transformed the amplitudes of the recorded signals into music through sonification.
The composition’s harmonic structure was inspired by the soundtrack of Liquid Sky (1982), directed by Slava Tsukerman.
